What To Do in the Event of a Disaster
If
you are under the care of Partners In Home Care when a disaster
strikes, the guidelines should be followed. Remember to contact the
Agency regarding your whereabouts and health care needs as soon as
possible after any disaster. Disaster warnings and information are broadcast on all local radio and television stations.- NOTE: satellite television stations DO NOT broadcast local emergency information.
- Keep
your radio and television tuned to a local station during conditions
that you suspect may lead to a disaster warning. Keep a
battery-operated radio on hand in case of electrical outage.
During
a declared disaster, emergency information and phone numbers will be
broadcast on all local radio and television stations.- Call 911 ONLY during life-threatening situations.
- Based
on broadcast information regarding the disaster and your needs,
determine if you should "shelter in" at home or evacuate to a shelter.
A minimum of three days' supply of fresh water, a heat source for food
and an intact shelter is required to "shelter in".
- When you
arrive at a safe distination, call Partners In Home Care at
406-728-8848 or toll free at 888-729-8848 and report your whereabouts
and your current status.
If you are notified to evacuate:- Put your emergency plan into effect.
- Have an identified destination.
- Take your disaster supplies kit.
- If possible, evacuate before dark.
- If it is safe to drive, drive on an established route. You will be notified if the route becomes unsafe by emergency personnel.
- DO NOT drive around road barricades placed by city, county, state, or federal officials for your protection.
- DO NOT attempt to drive over a flooded road.
- DO NOT attempt to walk or wade in a flooded area.
- If
the phones are out of order, report to the person in charge of the
shelter that you are under the care of Partners In Home Care. They
will forward the information of your whereabouts to us.
